When I fly to Europe from the States I usually fly into Paris. This is for two reasons. One is because my close friend lives there and I love to see him. And two because it is cheaper to fly into Paris and then find a cheap flight within Europe. Though it was just a quick stop in Paris, I always love stopping by. Even if it is only for a day.
My Quick Stop In Paris Day 1
If you read about my trip to New York you will know that my flight was delayed by over five hours. I spent the night at JFK airport, had no food because they didn’t have any on the plane, and I can’t sleep on planes. When I landed I was tired and hungry. So, I hopped on the RER and headed to my friend’s place.
It felt so great to be back in Paris. It’s another city, like NYC, that just feels like home. But, I knew I wasn’t going to be doing much that first night. I grabbed a sandwich and got into the apartment. My friend had invited me to a Eurovision party that night, but I knew I wasn’t going to make it. I had been up for over 24 hours and needed to rest. Thankfully he understood.
I did wait up for him to get home. We had a quick catchup before he had to go to bed. I told him I was going to get up early with him when he leaves for work. He advised me to sleep in. But, I only had one full day in Paris and I wanted to make the most of it. So, I set my early morning alarm to get up when the sun would rise.
Quick Stop In Paris Day 2
I guess my friend was right that I needed sleep. I ended up staying in bed till 11:00. It was a rainy day, so what I planned on doing wasn’t going to work out anyway. The night before my friend gave me his season passes to two museums. It was a perfect museum day, so I took both passes and went on my way.
My first stop was the Centre Pompidou. I enjoyed this museum. It is massive. They had a couple of limited-time exhibits, which I enjoyed, but their permanent collection is quite amazing. From Kandinsky to Warhol they had a beautiful collection. It was worth the visit. They also have an AMAZING view of Paris.
The second stop was the Bourse de Commerce, another modern art museum with rotating exhibits. These exhibits were a little more multi-media, combining video, sculptures, and sounds. It’s hard to describe, but I enjoyed this stop as well. My favorite was a giant wall that projected an underwater video and randomly pink liquid would drop into the water. It was relaxing and probably stayed there longer than I should of. I will say if you are visiting and have to choose, I would say head to the Centre Pompidou. A lot more to see, and did I mention the view? See the picture up top.
I ended my day meeting up with my friend after work. We hung out with a couple of his friends and had dinner. It was a nice night out. Hanging out with locals is one of my favorite parts of travel. You get a different perspective of the city than what you see. They also take you to the good places in the town.
And Off To Rome
And just like that, my quick trip to Paris was over. My trip to New York and Paris were both meant for me to spend time with friends and enjoy the cities I love so much the way I enjoy them. My trip to Italy will be a little more exploring, so I am excited to take you on that journey.
This week I will be focusing on Paris to help you plan your adventure. I’m also excited to hopefully have my first couple of videos on my YouTube channel finally coming out. I have one that will focus on the pros and cons of solo traveling, as well as 23 free things to do in NYC in 2023. I was hoping to have it out last week, but my editing skills aren’t the strongest yet, so it’s taking longer than I thought.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my brief trip to Paris. I know it probably seemed uneventful to read about, but I had a great time. I always have a great time in Paris. I read a lot of people don’t like Paris on these travel groups I’m part of and I never understand why. It’s so incredibly beautiful. And every time I return, I never want to leave.
Happy Adventuring!
