The tiny backpack is probably my favorite things next to my actual pack when traveling. It’s like if Zac Efron was my backpack than Kelly Clarkson would be my tiny backpack. You want the strength and support from Zac, but sometimes you just want to go out with your girl Kelly and have a good time. Zac will be home for you when you get back and there when you need him most.
What Is A Tiny Backpack?
Okay. You might be wondering what the heck is a tiny backpack. A tiny backpack is basically what people in the travel community call a day pack. It’s what you bring out with you during the day instead of lugging around that other bag where you keep all your essentials. You’re probably thinking “Oh a backpack”. NO! It is much different than a backpack, because a backpack takes up space in your luggage. This tiny bag I speak of fits in the palm of my hand when it’s folded up or in some cases the size of a clutch. And here are 5 reasons why this little bundle of joy really is the best friend to a traveler.
1: It Has All The Qualities Of A Best Friend
So to me, this bag is basically a travelers best friend. It’s there when you get lost, there for the good and the bad, and it gives you space when you need it. I travel solo and it’s the one thing that gives me comfort and familiarity when I’m setting out to explore a new city. This tiny bag has everything I need and holds all the essentials for making awesome memories.
2: Perfect To Get Away With For The Weekend
My parents have been together for 51 years and are still madly in love, but my mom also goes on girls weekends for a break from dear old dad on occasion. Much like my mother loves for my father, I love my Nomatic 40L pack. It is my one true love. But it is a lot of baggage…Literally. This is when I reach for my handy dandy sidekick, the Osprey Ultra Stuff Pack and take it away for the weekend every now and then.
I can comfortably fit two outfits in this tiny bag, along with my electronics, toiletries and a good book. So it’s perfect for those short trips when you venture out. It’s also great just for a day out when you just want to carry a light jacket and a little nosh as you explore whatever new adventure you are taking.
*Yes I just compared my love for a backpack to my parents loving 51 years of marriage. But I really LOVE my backpack.
3: A Tiny Backpack Gives You Space
When you really need it, a good friend will give you space. This little friend is no different. I am going to be traveling with just one thing on my back when I am on this journey, so I need as much space as possible when the time comes to head to our next destination. These tiny backpacks allow you to pack to the max and still have room for a little more.
I know some of you are over packers too. People who go on five day vacations and pack 15 outfits. Well this little bag is perfect for you as well. It will give you the space to fit in that extra shirt or dress that you may or may not wear. Also if you find something you can’t live without, this little guy (or girl) gives you a little extra space to take home that fabulous new pair of shorts you found.
4: They’re Reliable
When you find a best friend, one of the main reasons you keep them around is that they are reliable. These bags are usually water resistant and tough. They are going to keep your things safe and secure as you see the sites and wander aimlessly. Backpacks in general are just more reliable when traveling in my opinion. Hard to snatch something that is safely attached to your body.
5: A Tiny Backpack Is Cute
Okay, I don’t base my friendships on how they look, but I am a gay man who likes to look somewhat stylish when I am out and about. A lot of these bags are really sleek and attractive to wear. I am a firm believer that if YOU think you look better, you feel better. So why not find something that makes you feel cute and put it on your back?
Go Buy Yourself A New Best Friend
So as I said in my post about choosing a backpack (which you can find here) I tend to spend money on my bags. It’s one of the few things I actually splurge on. I bought the pack I am using for $35. It’s definitely spendy for what you get, I’m not going to lie. For me though I really need as much space as possible and I trust a brand like Osprey. But, there are some more affordable bags out there. I also own this ZOMAKE tiny backpack and it’s a great alternative at about half the price.
When you’re friends, you shouldn’t have to spend a lot of money on them unless you want to. The same goes for a tiny backpack. If it’s reliable, gives you space, makes you feel good, and gets you where you need to be, these little bags will quickly become your best friend on any trip you take.

I couldn’t believe all the things you actually got in that bag. And how light weight it was. You are never to old to learn. Love, Mom
